After years of working in cloud environments, we’ve come to expect some basics that we collectively refer to as the “cloud experience.” For example, scalable capacity that’s ready when you need it, and the ability to easily click and spin up new instances. In short, we expect a point-and-click experience with the added advantage that somebody else is managing the IT operations, so we can focus on accelerating outcomes—while paying only for what we use. That’s the cloud experience.

As Antonio Neri, CEO of HPE, emphasized in his keynote address at Discover 2021, companies need to go beyond the 3 Vs associated with big data—volume of data, the velocity of data ingress, and variety of data types—to focus on the fourth V for which all data should exist: "value." Many companies are "data-rich, but insight poor." Without the proper mining tools, a gold mine is just a lot of dirt. Companies need a faster time to extracting value from data and using it to gain insights or fuel AI systems.
In the past, when companies needed "faster," they turned to the cloud. But many have found that spinning up workloads in the cloud is one thing; moving data there is far more complicated and costly. So the data stays largely where it is, whether on-prem in the data centre or even at the edge in IoT systems. And if a cloud-like platform is what companies need to manage, analyze, and extract value from that data more quickly? HPE has the solution: bring the cloud to the data. -

Whatever reason customers have for keeping workloads on-prem—whether data gravity, concerns with performance and availability, or desire for greater control—HPE GreenLake brings the benefits of cloud there. HPE GreenLake further integrates with public cloud solutions to form the hybrid, multi-cloud platform that customers need. With a pay-per-use financing model, HPE GreenLake helps companies take a strategic approach to their infrastructure investments. They can reduce over-provisioning and closely align spending per-month with usage. In this way, the composite HPE GreenLake customer in a Forrester survey reduced TCO by 30% to 40%. Self-service provisioning and options for service-provider management help companies accelerate projects and focus on innovation. With a 75% faster time-to-market, they can edge out the competition, generate more revenue, and achieve as much as a 147% ROI. (Forrester, “The Total Economic Impact of HPE GreenLake,” June 2020.)
