Do you need a direct attached or shared storage solution within your BladeSystem enclosure? The D2220sb Storage Blade delivers direct attached storage for c-Class Gen8 blade servers, with support for up to twelve SFF SAS hard disk drives or SAS/SATA SSDs or SATA Midline hard drives. The enclosure backplane provides a PCI Express connection to the adjacent c-Class server blade and enables high performance storage access without any additional cables.

The D2220sb features the onboard Smart Array P420i controller with 2 GB flash-backed write cache, for increased performance and data protection. Up to eight D2220sb storage devices can be supported in a single BladeSystem c7000 enclosure for up to 115.2 TB.

Use the HP StoreVirtual VSA to turn the D2220sb into an iSCSI SAN for use by all severs in the enclosure and any server on the network. VSA includes remote replication capabilities, thin provisioning, and snapshot.

High-Performance Direct Attached Storage

The HP D2220sb Storage Blade supports twelve universal small form factor hot-plug SAS hard disk drives (or SAS/SATA SSDs or SATA Midline hard disk drives) which expand the spindle count for the adjacent blade server.

High-speed PCI Express (PCIe) connection to adjacent c-Class server blade provides peak DAS performance.

The D2220sb Storage Blade includes an HP Smart Array P420i controller 2 GB flash-backed write cache, for increased performance and data protection.

Up to eight D2220sb storage devices can be supported off a single BladeSystem c7000 enclosure for up to 115.2 TB of capacity.

Internal Shared Storage

Build scalable internal shared storage with the D2220sb Storage Blade and HP StoreVirtual VSA. Storage can scale within the same c-Class BladeSystem enclosure or across enclosures via iSCSI.

The HP StoreVirtual VSA provides a scalable iSCSI SAN based on a clustered storage architecture, and includes remote replication capabilities, thin provisioning, and snapshots.

Expand capacity by adding D2220sb and HP StoreVirtual VSA within the same enclosure or to additional enclosures.

Compact yet Flexible

The D2220sb Storage Blade plugs directly into any c-Class enclosure with no additional cabling needed, providing dedicated storage for the adjacent server blade.

The Smart Array P420i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6 with Advanced Data Guarding (ADG) for a choice of RAID options.

The D2220sb supports twelve drive bays with SAS/SATA/SSD technology where you can choose from a range of small form factor (SFF) drives.

Familiar ProLiant Management

Simple configuration: Use the browser-based Array Configuration Utility (ACU) to configure your array, add additional disk drives to an existing configuration, or completely reconfigure your disk drive array.

Receive hard drive pre-failure alerts: Manage the D2220sb and receive hard drive pre-failure alerts through HP Systems Insight Manager.

Manage storage remotely: Manage your D2220sb remotely using the adjacent blade server’s integrated Light’s Out (iLO) technology.
